So, to be noted: there are two typical speeds in your component search 🔍.

Whether the disk is to be underutilized by your motherboard or CPU, speed benchmarks are likely to show capped results of 3400MB/Sec, a speed slower than the M.2 PCIe hardware adapter's supported speeds. It is possible that typical NVMe adapter itself is faster than the host supports ,thus "bottleneck" keeps a would-be 7800 MB/sec. model with a reduced speed. This is typical on laptops, particularly my old Dell Inspiron with Whisky Lake Intel®️, without the included enclosure you would be limited to weaker bus limitation within motherboard-to-CPU limits. For example, a Samsung 980 Pro 512 GB supports 5200 MB/sec, but you won't see all of it if so.

  • To reach PCIe 4.0 X4 (64Gbps) full speed, the CPU and motherboard PCIe slot and PCIe M.2 SSD should all be PCIe 4.0 features (Note: PCIe 4.0 is not supported on Intel CPUs below 11th generation)
